ARTISTS' CREDO

Artists’ Credo

We, in DAKILA, believe that . . .

Nobility begins in the mind and ends in action.

Nobility knows no social and economic status— all human beings possess an innate sense of honor and dignity.

True nobility is not defined by pedigree or wealth but by one’s actions.

Art is one of the noblest human endeavors— the only way of expressing the inexpressible.

Art does not exist in a vacuum. After his own self, the artist has a responsibility towards the reality that surrounds him.

Art may not change the world, but it can change the way we view the world. For true revolution begins in the imagination.

We recognize all those who have sacrificed their lives in the past so that our freedom and the nobility of the race may live on— we recognize our heroes, our martyrs, the disciples of the arts who have dedicated themselves to the truest, noblest cause. We honor them by treading the same path.

The Philippine society is in the midst of a significant upheaval and that as disciples of the creative act, we are not exempted from the responsibility of helping contribute to positive change. Now, more than ever, is the time to be DAKILA.

May katulad ni BUWI na came in well prepared and physically fit pero di pa rin pumasa dahil nabunutan ng ngipin a few days before the event. hehe!

Kumpletos rekados. Lahat ng field ng arts, represented dito. Para ring freak show.

Parang justice league - pinoy style. Superheroes ang datingan. Lahat pwede maging hero. choose your own character.

Kumibo pag may mali. Wag magkibit-balikat sa baluktot na sistema. Buhayin ang pag-asa. May magagawa ka pa.

Kaya nga ikaw, ako, lahat pwede maging DAKILA.

Sinong DAKILA?

TADO

Prior to his network television sitcom stints, Tado Jimenez has been an active member of the independent film community, having appeared in countless films. Little do viewers know that he has been a tireless student activist while studying at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Tado is also an accomplished photographer with several shows to his name as well as a vocalist for the rock band Live Tilapia.

RONNIE

The versatile Ronnie Lazaro is considered one of the country’s finest actors and has appeared in some of the most critically acclaimed films in recent Philippine cinema history including Oro, Plata, Mata, Misteryo sa Tuwa, Bayani, Sa Pusod ng Dagat, Raymond Red’s Cannes-winning short film Anino, Jose Rizal, Bagong Buwan, Hubad sa Ilalim ng Buwan, Panaghoy sa Suba, Ebolusyon ng Pamilyang Pilipino, just to name a few. The Bacolod-born Ronnie is also a veteran stage actor and is currently touring the country with the play ‘Hiblang Abo’.

BUWI

Parokya ni Edgar is currently one of the country’s most popular bands, with their distinct brand of music that combines catchy melodies and goofy, tongue-in-cheek humor, and Buhawi ‘Buwi’ Meneses, is the brains behind many of their hits, including the monster single ‘Mister Suave’. Buwi, a graduate of the UP College of Fine Arts, is also actively involved in spreading cancer awareness.

LOURD

Multi-awarded poet-essayist Lourd de Veyra fronts the spoken word-jazz-rock band Radioactive Sago Project. He has won the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature and the Free Press Literary Awards several times, and has published two collections of poetry. His third book, written after winning a grant from the very first National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Writers’ Prize, is due for publication early next year.
